Our Suspension services include:
Air Spring
Air suspension is used in place of conventional steel springs in heavy vehicle applications such as buses and trucks. It is broadly used on semi-trailers. The purpose of air suspension is to provide a smooth, constant ride quality. Modern electronically controlled systems almost always feature self-leveling along with raising and lowering functions. Although traditionally called air bags or air bellows, the correct term is air spring (although these terms are also used to describe just the rubber bellows element with its end plates). Trust the experts at Byrd Automotive Repair when your truck's air bag suspension needs service, repair, or replacement. Call us at 859-885-9121 to schedule an appointment.
Equalizers
Suspension equalizers are an effective aftermarket innovation for rear leaf suspensions. The equalizers are designed to aid in the carrying ability of your truck. Equalizers have the following advantages: fuel economy, increased safety, increased power, reduced tire wear, improved steering, and improved braking.
Most equalizer kits include U-bolts, Equalizer Bars, Shackle Plates, Greasable Bolts, Rollers, Spring Washers, Washers, U-bolt Plates, and Nylon Locking Nuts. For all your suspension equalizer needs, visit or call Byrd Automotive Repair in Nicholasville, KY 40356 today.
Hangers
Hangers are an effective way to enhance your truck's driving stability, handling, and suspension response. Hangers lower your truck's center of gravity, protecting it from rollovers in turns and corners and help you modify your truck's ground clearance. Whether you want to lower or raise your truck using hangers, call 859-885-9121 or visit Byrd Automotive Repair today.
Shocks
Shock absorbers are mechanical devices designed to smooth out shock impulses, thus reducing the effects of traveling over rough roads. Shocks convert kinetic energy that is formed when a vehicle travels over rough ground into another form of energy.
With shocks, you will be able to take your truck to places you never thought possible. Shocks work together with springs (they damp spring oscillations) to give your truck the best overall performance and the ability to carry the maximum load. For all your shock servicing, shock repairs and shock replacement needs, call or visit Byrd Automotive Repair today.
Torque Arms & Walking Beams
A torque arm is a metal arm attached between a drive axle and the vehicle's frame. Torque arms prevent axle rotation in hub motors. It prevents the wheels from trying to rotate the axle relative to the vehicle's frame under acceleration (or in the opposite direction during braking).
A walking beam is an oscillating lever that pivots on a central axis and uses internal cam technology to transmit linear stroke in two directions (produces a reciprocating or reversible motion).
For all your torque arm and walking beam servicing needs, visit Byrd Automotive Repair in Nicholasville, KY 40356.

Testimonials
Chris Dunagan, 11/25/2023
Wilmore / Nicholasville / Lexington area friends, this is a shout out to Byrd Automotive in Nicholasville. They are honest. A few years ago, a used car we bought developed an expensive problem long after the regular manufacturer's warranty expired. Byrd Automotive could have charged us nearly $3K to fix it, but instead, they told us about an extended warranty campaign from the manufacturer for that particular issue for a dealer to fix it for free. Then, when one of the local Toyota dealers botched that repair job by failing to secure a snap ring holding an axle in the transmission, Byrd diagnosed that problem too, brought me back into the garage to show me what the dealer did wrong so I could take pictures while the car was up on the rack to show the dealer, and Byrd didn't charge me a dime for that help. I could tell you other stories of Byrd Automotive's help with our vehicles. The bottom line is they are honest, determined, competent, qualified, and reliable. Even with hard jobs on old vehicles (one time a rusted part on a seventeen year old truck broke one of Hayden's tools, but he still found a way to get the job done), they never let us down. The guys at Byrd Automotive are Toyota specialists with walls full of factory training certificates. I would trust them with anything, and especially if you drive a Toyota, they know more about your Toyota than the dealers do and even do their own research. I'm posting this now because even years after we moved to Ohio, I still call occasionally with Toyota questions and Gene, Cameron, and Hayden are always happy to help by sharing what they know. If you need a mechanic in the area, especially for a Toyota, Gene, Cameron, and Hayden at Byrd Automotive are rock solid, trustworthy and dependable. I appreciate them and wanted you to know about them.
